From a scientific point of view, considering that a simple juice has this virtue makes no sense, especially since we have an organ that has this very function: the liver. It is the real detox of our body.
Some methods, followed in moderation, are interesting. However, there is no scientific proof that a detox cure to lose weight and purify the digestive system really works. Antioxidants, fiber and bioactive compounds in vegetables can indeed have positive effects on the body and strengthen the immune system, but if consumed in large quantities, they can overload the liver. Given its importance in the body, this is not a good thing. But this is good news: our body is quite capable of doing its own detox to lose weight. No need for juices, magic formulas or to stop eating solid foods.

You might be wondering where all these miracle diet recipes come from, if there is no scientific proof that they are effective in “cleansing the body” and facilitating weight loss.
Researchers around the world are studying the composition of foods and how our bodies react to their absorption, helping the health care community to better understand this wonderful machine that is our bodies.
The root of the problem is the way the results of these studies are used outside of their academic context. Most of the time, newspapers take a small scientific study and interpret it to create a buzz, when it does not reflect the reality of most people.

2- Chewing is more effective than drinking
Recently, a person came to see me at the office and told me that she consumed a green juice every day. She was using about 3 cabbage leaves and a large amount of fruit: peach, banana, apple… anything she could get her hands on. The amount of ingredients in her daily juice was scary.
It’s way too much for one juice! She wouldn’t be able to eat the same absurd amount of food on her plate. Remember: excess of any kind is bad for your health.
I like to give this advice: focus on solid food, made up of foods that you can chew. We naturally have a greater tolerance for liquids, which means that our feeling of fullness is longer when we drink food.
Here’s a practical example: in an orange juice, we usually use 5 to 6 oranges per large glass. How many oranges would you be able to eat in one sitting if you had to chew them? Probably no more than two, or even one. But in juice, you can eat a lot more.
When you start to eat by chewing, the feeling of hunger decreases immediately.
3- What to replace the detox cure to lose weight?
A balanced diet! The promises that make you believe in a quick weight loss encourage you to commit any type of dietary excess, since there would be a quick and miraculous solution to eliminate the consequences of this excess.
These cycles of alternating between excess and restriction increase the risk of certain mechanisms being triggered, such as the accumulation of fat or the development of compulsive eating, because when the body does not receive all the nutrients it needs to keep itself alive, and in sufficient quantity, it considers itself to be in danger. In order to adapt and defend itself, it may increase the accumulation of fat or change your eating behavior.
In summary, be careful to consider your diet as a whole, do not rely on a detox cure to lose weight with miraculous virtues, it could bring you more harm than benefit.
